K2 SELECTIONS

What is a K2 Selection?  And furthermore, what is a K2?  Is it a mountain in the Himalayas?  Or is it a really bad movie about mountain climbing?  Well yes, but it also refers to our semi-crazed wine buyer and poet, Kevin Keith.  Kevin has years of experience in the wine business, stemming back to his days in restaurants in South Carolina and Ohio.  A long and meandering path led him to Northern Kentucky, where he continues his pursuit of master sommelier certification, and his relentless passion for wine and egomania.  (Kevin passed level one in September 2004.)

Each month, Kevin will reveal 12 wines he feels have tremendous potential and appeal, demonstrating exceptional quality, yet may or may not have the critical acclaim that make them stand out in the crowd.  A fierce opponent to Parker's rating scale (which actually rates on BIGNESS not quality), his scoring system is a bit different, and is explained below:
